Remote Medical Coder (USA)

About the role

Innovative Work Solutions is looking for qualified Medical Coders to work remotely from anywhere in the United States. In this full‑time position you will review clinical documentation and assign the appropriate medical codes to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze physician notes, lab reports and other clinical records to determine the correct diagnosis, procedure and service codes.
• Apply ICD‑10‑CM, CPT and HCPCS coding systems in accordance with payer guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Verify code sequencing, ensure data integrity and resolve coding queries with clinical and administrative teams.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of coding regulations, payer policies and industry best practices.
• Meet productivity and quality benchmarks while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the coding department.

Required profile

• Proven experience in US‑based medical coding within a healthcare setting.
• Foundational knowledge of Health Information Management and documentation standards.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology to interpret clinical information accurately.
• Relevant credential such as RHIT or a comparable health information or coding certification, or active pursuit of such certification.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with excellent attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and strict adherence to confidentiality and compliance requirements.
