About the role

The Municipality of Norristown Police Department is seeking a part‑time School Crossing Guide to ensure the safety of students as they travel to and from school. This entry‑level position works Monday through Friday and involves direct interaction with children, motorists, and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Control traffic at designated school intersections during crossing times.
• Assist children in crossing safely and maintain orderly flow of vehicles.
• Monitor weather conditions and adjust duties accordingly.
• Report any incidents or safety concerns to the supervising officer.
• Follow detailed instructions and protocols provided during training.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance.
• PA State Police criminal background check clearance and FBI clearance.
• Ability to work independently, make quick decisions, and remain assertive in traffic situations.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
