Senior Analyst, Treasury & Markets (Operations & Back Office)

About the role

Afreximbank is looking for a part-time Senior Analyst, Treasury & Markets (Operations & Back Office) in Cairo. The role supports the management of Treasury PAPSS Settlement operations, covering settlement processing, participant account management, liquidity monitoring, cash management and foreign exchange activities. It works closely with the Manager, Treasury PAPSS Settlements, supporting the day-to-day administration of the PAPSS settlement framework.

Key responsibilities

• Treasury PAPSS Settlement Management: initiate and process approved overdraft facilities in the Core Banking System, maintain bank accounts and banking structures, support intra-day and end-of-day settlement, identify and report short-term liquidity and funding requirements, manage the overdraft and surplus portfolio, liaise with the internal Legal team on loan documentation, and help improve settlement controls.
• Client relationship management: maintain participants' settlement accounts, reconcile collections and payments, communicate with PAPSS participants, maintain bank mandates and answer queries.
• Cash management: day-to-day cash control, balance monitoring, reporting on member positions and performance, and assistance with SWIFT-related activities.
• Foreign exchange: liaise with trading partners and the Treasury team on FX monitoring and trading opportunities.
• Other duties assigned by Senior Management, and compliance duties including AML, regulatory and conduct compliance, reporting suspicious activity and completing annual compliance training.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a treasury settlement function within a corporate institution, preferably in financial services.
• First degree in Accounting, Financial Management, Economics, a numerical discipline or a related field, plus a postgraduate degree in a relevant field (a recognised professional certification may be accepted in lieu).
• Previous experience in an operations settlement environment and knowledge of treasury, debt capital markets and financial instruments.
• Experience in people and project management, and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal English; French, Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Good grounding in financial systems, database methodologies and financial modelling.
• Experience with Treasury Management Systems and inter-company netting.
• Advanced Excel skills and computer literacy, including SQL and Crystal Reports.
