Senior Backend Developer (PHP Laravel)

About the role

York Towers is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join its technology team and help build the server‑side components of an AI‑powered real‑estate platform. The role is fully remote and requires strong expertise in PHP, Laravel, and modern cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server‑side logic and RESTful APIs.
• Build and optimise MySQL database schemas.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security features.
• Integrate third‑party services such as payment gateways and map APIs.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code.
• Deploy and manage applications using Docker and AWS ECS.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical decisions.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience with PHP and the Laravel framework.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Proficiency in MySQL database design and optimisation.
• Experience with Docker containerisation.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of AWS services (ECS, S3, RDS).
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub workflows.
• Experience with PHPUnit or similar testing frameworks.
