Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

WorkMotion is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help build and scale its Talent Operations platform. You will work primarily on backend services while also contributing to frontend features when needed, shaping the technical direction of a remote‑first, globally connected team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Contribute to frontend features with React as required.
• Write well‑tested, high‑quality code and follow DevOps best practices.
• Participate in system architecture discussions and make technical decisions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver impactful solutions.
• Review code, mentor teammates, and improve engineering standards.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, enhancing performance, reliability, and scalability.

Required profile

• 5‑6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Proven experience building microservices and REST APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Comfortable working in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.
