Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

About the role

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will shape the enterprise analytical architecture for a leading healthcare organization, establishing standards and reusable patterns while ensuring high‑performance semantic models. This hands‑on role combines technical leadership with deep data‑modeling expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Define enterprise analytical architecture, including common facts, dimensions, conformed hierarchies, subject‑area marts, and semantic models.
• Set engineering standards for grain, keys, joins, temporal logic, transformation design, testing, reconciliation, lineage, version control, and releases.
• Design and implement reusable enterprise transformation patterns using SQL, Python, dbt, or equivalent frameworks.
• Own the technical architecture and performance of shared semantic/tabular models, covering relationships, hierarchies, measures, calculations, and security.
• Develop enterprise testing and reconciliation frameworks and lead investigations of high‑risk modelling issues.
• Lead analytical migration and coexistence strategies, assess source changes, review complex BI work, and coach the team while staying hands‑on for the toughest engineering cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in BI engineering, analytics engineering, data modelling or semantic modelling, including at least 2 years in a senior or technical‑lead capacity.
• Proven expertise in complex SQL, dimensional modelling, and enterprise analytical architecture design.

Required skills

• SQL (advanced joins, CTEs, window functions, temporal logic, performance tuning).
• Python for data transformation and automation.
• dbt for modular data pipelines.
• DAX for advanced semantic/tabular modelling.
