Senior Child Protection & MHPSS Officer

About the role

The Senior Child Protection & MHPSS Officer will lead child safeguarding and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities for a two‑year project in Aswan, Egypt. Based in the field office, the officer will spend the majority of time (70%+) working directly with communities, schools and local partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor monthly work plans for child protection (CP) and MHPSS interventions.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to field teams, teachers, school managers, social workers and psychologists.
• Ensure compliance with child safeguarding standards and oversee the police‑checking/vetting process.
• Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of CP and MHPSS training sessions in Community Learning Schools.
• Integrate CP and MHPSS principles into the broader educational framework.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditures and contribute to budget development in line with Save the Children guidelines.
• Facilitate supervision meetings and support the Child Protection Coordinator and case workers.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in child protection and MHPSS within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and conduct field‑based work.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding standards and donor compliance requirements.
• Willingness to travel extensively and spend most of the time in field locations.
