Senior Marine Engineer

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm operating in 100 countries, is looking for a detail-oriented, analytically minded Senior Engineer - Marine to join its Cairo office in Egypt. The role combines high-level technical work, programming and budgeting, and project management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-level technical quality work, programme and budget projects, and manage them as required
• Attend client meetings as marine structural expert to discuss project requirements and maintain strong client relationships
• Liaise with clients and subcontractors so that design work is delivered on time and to budget
• Coordinate with other discipline engineers to keep the design process continuous
• Review project standards and documents so that submitted drawings and documents match project objectives
• Peer review the consultant's design package (technical report, drawings, calculations, specifications)
• Peer review contractor submittals such as materials, construction methods and subcontractor prequalification documents
• Provide technical support to the construction supervision team

Required profile

• University degree in Marine, Structural or Civil Engineering
• 10+ years of related work experience in marine engineering
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Arabic
• Project management, proposal preparation and client management experience
• Experience designing marine structures such as blockwork quaywalls, sheet piles, diaphragm walls, jetties, marinas and scour protection systems

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of marine engineering design standards and guidelines
• Knowledge of software such as Geo5 and Staad Pro
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Strong proficiency in structural analysis software and CAD tools
