Senior Payroll Specialist

About the role

GEMS International School Cairo is looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to process the school's monthly payroll accurately and on time. The role is based on site in New Cairo City and sits within the school's department.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
• Review and validate payroll inputs, including salaries, allowances, overtime, deductions, bonuses, commissions and benefits.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records and keep payroll information confidential.
• Prepare payroll reports and payroll-related financial reports for management and Finance.
• Ensure payroll processes comply with applicable labor and tax regulations.
• Review and improve payroll processes to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain payroll documentation and support month-end and year-end closing activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Typically 3-5 years of payroll experience, with strong experience in a senior or specialist-level position.
• Good understanding of labor laws, tax regulations and social insurance requirements applicable to the country of employment.

Required skills

• Experience with payroll systems such as Mena-Itech is preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups and data reconciliation.
