Senior Quality Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer based in Cairo to manage quality on metro and railway projects. The role covers quality management, client and consultant coordination, inspections, testing and commissioning oversight, quality audits and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the project Quality Management Plan in line with ISO 9001 and ensure compliance with Metro and Railway standards (EN, IEC, AREMA, NFPA 130, etc.)
• Develop, update and control Project Quality Procedures, ITPs and Method Statements
• Act as the main interface with the Customer and Consultant, attend quality and progress meetings, and close NCRs, SORs and observations
• Manage MIRs and WIRs, supervise site inspections and verify contractor and subcontractor compliance
• Lead punch list generation, tracking and closure, and coordinate with construction, testing and commissioning teams for timely handover
• Take part in PICO, SIT and SAT, review and approve test procedures and records, and support testing of signalling, telecom, power supply, SCADA and rolling stock
• Plan and run internal quality audits, prepare monthly quality reports, KPI dashboards and NCR logs, and drive continuous improvement
• Supervise Quality Engineers, Site Inspectors and Document Controllers, and provide training on QMS and inspection procedures

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related)
• At least 5 years of quality assurance experience on Metro or Railway projects
• Currently residing in Alexandria
• Strong knowledge of Metro systems, interfaces and testing phases (PICO, SIT, SAT)
• Excellent understanding of ISO 9001 and project QA/QC practices
• Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and lead across multidisciplinary teams

• Managing MIR/WIR cycles, NCR closure and punch list systems
• Document control and reporting tools such as Excel, SharePoint and Aconex
