Senior Systems Engineer – Enterprise IT Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, operate, and continuously improve a complex enterprise IT infrastructure. You will act as the final technical authority, ensuring stability, security, and standardisation of all IT services while supporting major projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot Windows and Linux server environments.
• Manage virtualised infrastructures using VMware or Proxmox.
• Administer backup, disaster‑recovery and endpoint‑protection solutions (e.g., Veeam).
• Support terminal services, monitoring tools, database systems and secure file‑transfer platforms.
• Provide last‑level incident, problem and change management support.
• Coordinate with external providers, internal IT teams and business stakeholders.
• Develop automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to increase operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with ISMS, security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain high‑quality technical documentation and participate in on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on systems engineering or enterprise infrastructure experience.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
• ITIL Foundation certification is advantageous.
