Shift Leader – Plastic Production Engineer

About the role

The Shift Leader reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for supervising the production team in a plastic manufacturing environment. The role ensures continuous production, product quality, and compliance with hygiene, safety, and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate machine and packing operators, manage priorities, remove bottlenecks, and train staff on correct procedures.
• Participate in technical operations such as colour changes, mould changes, line cleaning, and assist with line set‑up.
• Perform minor repairs, routine maintenance, and make urgent decisions on line stoppages, prioritising safety and continuity.
• Authorize production start‑up after changeovers or major maintenance in collaboration with the Quality Manager.
• Communicate production issues promptly to relevant departments and report breakdowns.
• Execute the quality control plan, conduct random product checks, and support investigations and corrective actions.
• Oversee shift paperwork to ensure accurate traceability of production batches.
• Maintain health, safety and hygiene standards in the production area.

Required skills

• Knowledge of plastic moulding technologies (EBM, SBM, injection moulding).
• Applied knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic systems.
• Ability to operate manual and electric forklifts.
• Proficiency with measuring instruments and techniques.
• Familiarity with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards.
• Understanding of Health, Safety and Environment regulations.
