Sous Chef - Bakery Chef

About the role

The Sous Chef – Bakery Chef will support the Kitchen Operations at Kempinski Palace Cairo, contributing to menu planning, costing and the development of new bakery items. The role ensures high food quality, compliance with HACCP standards and a safe, hygienic working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organizing special events and food promotions.
• Maintain comprehensive product knowledge of ingredients, equipment, suppliers and market trends.
• Ensure kitchen hygiene and personal hygiene standards are met.
• Support staff performance management, training needs analysis and appraisal processes.
• Approve leave in line with hotel occupancy and assist with staffing forecasts.
• Participate in budget preparation and departmental cost control.
• Apply OH&S policies, monitor safety procedures and report hazards.
• Log security incidents and accidents according to hotel requirements.

Required profile

• Gastronomic education certificate or equivalent (apprenticeship, diploma, BA/BSc).
• HACCP certification.
• Minimum 5 years kitchen experience and at least 2 years in a supervisory role (e.g., Chef de Partie).
• International experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written English; local language skills beneficial.
