Staff Engineer - Backend & AI Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of Vezeeta’s core backend platforms while integrating cutting‑edge AI capabilities into production services. The role combines deep expertise in micro‑service architecture with hands‑on experience delivering LLM‑powered features.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture of core backend systems such as booking, pharmacy, CRM, and patient management.
• Design and govern micro‑services boundaries, communication patterns, data models, and reliability standards.
• Set and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Optimize backend performance through query tuning, caching, and latency management.
• Lead the integration layer between AI capabilities (LLMs, agents, RAG pipelines) and backend services.
• Deliver production‑grade AI features, establishing monitoring, evaluation, and cost‑management practices.
• Mentor senior engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and serve as the escalation point for complex technical decisions.
• Collaborate with product, business stakeholders, and the VP of Technology on roadmap and trade‑offs.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of large‑scale production systems.
• Proven track record shipping at least one LLM‑powered feature in production.
• Strong understanding of distributed, event‑driven systems and micro‑service design.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
