Staff Software Engineer - Backend

About the role

Procore is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Backend to help transform the construction industry with scalable SaaS solutions. Based in Cairo, you will work closely with infrastructure, platform, and product teams to design high‑scale systems that serve millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce technical standards across development teams.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Java, and related technologies.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
• Implement and evolve CI/CD pipelines with CircleCI and ArgoCD.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and monitoring throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to a micro‑services architecture powered by Postgres, Typescript, and Kubernetes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals and TDD.
• Proven ability to lead large technical initiatives and balance short‑term and long‑term goals.
• Experience scaling platforms to thousands of hosts and millions of users.
