Structural Design Engineer

About the role

Omrania by EGIS, an architectural, engineering and design consultancy founded in 1973 and part of EGIS since 2021, is looking for a Structural Design Engineer to join its expanding multidisciplinary engineering team. The position is based at the Cairo office, with periodic business visits to the headquarters in Riyadh, and fits into a multinational team spread across Riyadh, Amman, Bangalore and Cairo. The engineer contributes to high-profile projects in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out the structural design of large-scale and complex building and infrastructure projects from concept to construction stage.
• Prepare, review and validate structural calculations, design reports and construction drawings in line with international codes and local standards.
• Perform structural analysis and assessments for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Coordinate with architecture, MEP, civil and landscape teams to deliver integrated designs.
• Keep projects within timelines, budgets and quality targets, and support quality assurance and safety compliance.
• Present structural reports, technical proposals and value-engineering recommendations to clients and stakeholders, and take part in client meetings and business development as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• 4 to 7 years of experience in structural engineering, focused on large-scale projects.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
• Experience delivering projects in the Middle East is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD and RAM.
• In-depth understanding of building codes and standards such as SBC, ACI, AISC and Eurocode.
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabian building regulations and standards.
• Project management skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a cross-cultural environment.
