System Design Engineer, POWER

About the role

Valeo is seeking a System Design Engineer specialized in power electronics to develop and integrate system functions for inverters, on‑board chargers and DC/DC converters. The role involves close collaboration with customers, hardware and software teams to deliver compliant, high‑performance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the RFQ phase, assess requirements and engage with customers.
• Design, analyse and review detailed system requirements and create technical documentation.
• Simulate electromagnetic behaviour of synchronous machines (PMSM, EESM) and associated power‑electronics equipment.
• Collaborate with system architects on interfaces and ensure compatibility with hardware, software and mechanical designs.
• Support software, system, hardware and testing stakeholders and conduct reviews of specifications and test cases.
• Assist the construction team in building a cross‑project system architecture.
• Follow ASPICE, ISO 26262 and internal processes, report progress in daily/weekly meetings and raise issues proactively.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (Master’s in Power Electronics or Control Theory is a plus).
• Minimum 1.5 years of relevant experience in power‑electronics system design.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• MATLAB scripting and Simulink modelling.
• Pspice modelling (optional).
• Strong knowledge of electrical drives, Field Oriented Control (FOC), pulse‑width modulation and current‑controller design.
• Expertise in DC/DC converter topologies (Boost, LLC) and their switched/average modelling.
• Controller design for power‑electronics applications.
