1st Commis – Food & Beverage

About the role

The 1st Commis supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, cooking, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. This full‑time position reports to the kitchen supervisor and works on‑site at Marriott's Cairo location.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepare and cook hot and cold dishes, ensuring quality, presentation and food safety standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Test foods for doneness, monitor quality, and adjust cooking as needed.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain proper storage.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment; verify appliance and food temperatures.
• Follow company safety, security and hygiene policies; report incidents and maintenance needs.
• Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related food‑service or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.
