Approval Doctor – Medical Claims & Pre‑Authorization Specialist

About the role

The Approval Doctor reviews medical treatment requests, ensuring they meet clinical guidelines and insurance policy terms. Working within the Approvals department, the role supports both inpatient and outpatient cases and collaborates closely with physicians, hospitals, and insurers.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate pre‑authorization requests and decide on approval or rejection based on medical necessity and coverage.
• Review inpatient and outpatient treatment requests in coordination with healthcare providers.
• Communicate with physicians, hospitals, and insured members to clarify clinical details.
• Ensure all decisions comply with company policies, local health regulations, and international medical guidelines.
• Provide clinical support to the claims team for complex medical claims.
• Stay updated on new medical treatments, protocols, and policy changes.
• Contribute to the development and revision of internal medical protocols.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all medical decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BPharm), MBBCh, or a related medical field.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.
• Excellent clinical judgment and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
