Back-End Software Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Back-End Software Developer to own the server‑side architecture and data layer of Fikra, an all‑in‑one operations platform for masjids in the United States. In this hands‑on position you will design, build and maintain the APIs, data models and infrastructure that power the platform, working closely with a frontend developer and product stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Fastify.js.
• Design, implement and manage PostgreSQL databases with Prisma ORM.
• Own data models for core modules such as finances, memberships, workflows and operations.
• Handle deployment and infrastructure on Railway, including environment configuration and scaling.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Bash scripts and YAML configurations.
• Ensure data integrity, security and performance across the backend.
• Collaborate asynchronously with the frontend developer and product team across time zones.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Hands‑on experience with Fastify or a comparable Node.js framework.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and an ORM, preferably Prisma.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, YAML configuration and Bash scripting.
• Comfortable managing infrastructure and deployments in cloud or PaaS environments.
