Backend Engineer

About the role

Bosta is looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance services that power its overnight delivery platform for e‑commerce businesses in Egypt. You will work closely with front‑end engineers, product designers, and operations teams to deliver reliable, scalable APIs and integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement service architecture and scalable APIs for client‑facing solutions.
• Build and maintain third‑party API integrations, handling data fetching and processing.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate business requirements into technical features.
• Monitor, optimize, and ensure high availability of backend systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design discussions.
• Drive innovation by creating new products and improving existing ones.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience as a Backend Software Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work with legacy code.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical decisions to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• JavaScript, Node.js, Express framework.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and search engines such as Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch.
• Building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of A/B testing and canary deployments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
