Backend Software Engineer (SaaS Contact Center)

About the role

Maqsam is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join its AI‑powered contact‑center SaaS platform. You will work on end‑to‑end development, from design through deployment, helping to enhance Arabic call transcription, analytics and AI modeling.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into well‑defined technical solutions and implement them.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues in a high‑availability environment.
• Optimize system performance through testing, code refinement and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate new technologies and frameworks.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
• Document development processes, code changes and critical information.
• Participate in design and architecture decisions for internal systems and databases.
• Support junior engineers and help onboard new team members.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in backend or full‑stack web development.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (preferred).

Required skills

• Backend or full‑stack web development with focus on scalable, robust systems.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails (or similar frameworks).
• Experience with relational databases and their integration.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design.
• Debugging complex systems and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with VoIP‑related projects (plus).
• Mobile development experience (plus).
