Chief Accountant

About the role

Accor is looking for a Chief Accountant in Hurghada to oversee daily accounting operations and supervise accounting staff. The role covers general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, fixed assets and bank reconciliations, and supports management with financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements and internal financial policies.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing, and monitor cash flow, budgets and financial performance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit findings.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate accounting staff, and support annual budget and forecast preparation.
• Identify improvements to accounting processes and provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent is preferred.
• At least 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, taxation and internal controls.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
