Data Engineer

About the role

Henkel is looking for a Data Engineer to support the development and operation of its enterprise metadata platform, DataHub. You will design and maintain scalable data pipelines, improve data quality, and enable governance automation for global data consumers.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain scheduled metadata ingestion pipelines from platforms such as Databricks Unity Catalog, Power BI, SAP, and Azure Synapse.
• Develop and enhance governance automation covering compliance, ownership, lineage, and automated tagging.
• Implement data quality and completeness scoring across the enterprise data landscape.
• Work with DataHub SDKs, REST and GraphQL APIs to support metadata operations and integrations.
• Contribute to AI‑enabled metadata access and intelligent assistant capabilities.
• Design scalable cloud‑native solutions on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Collaborate with global, cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable enterprise data solutions.
• Follow engineering best practices including testing, monitoring, and continuous platform enhancements.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Python and SQL, preferably with PostgreSQL or Databricks.
• Proven ability to build and maintain reliable, automated data pipelines.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and system integrations.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services and Databricks.
• Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
