Data Engineer

About the role

BlackStone eIT is hiring a Data Engineer in Cairo. The role covers designing data architectures, building ETL/ELT pipelines, supporting data migration to the cloud and collaborating with analysts, scientists and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design of scalable and secure data solutions aligned with business and technical needs.
• Develop and optimize pipelines that ingest, transform and load data from diverse sources into structured formats for analytics.
• Analyze structured and unstructured data sources and recommend ingestion, processing and classification strategies.
• Assist in building a data layer supporting both batch and real-time processing.
• Implement data validation and cleansing strategies to ensure quality and compliance with governance policies.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for large datasets.
• Support migration projects from legacy systems to cloud platforms with minimal downtime.
• Monitor data workflows, troubleshoot bottlenecks and propose improvements.
• Work with analysts, scientists and business teams to turn requirements into data models.
• Apply governance standards and security best practices, including compliance with regulations such as GDPR.
• Stay up to date on emerging tools and practices.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Familiarity with data governance, security and compliance frameworks.
• Solid understanding of batch and real-time data processing.
• Collaborative mindset, able to work across technical and business teams.
