Database Administrator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to own the administration, operation, and continuous optimisation of our Microsoft SQL Server environments, both on‑premises and in the cloud. The role acts as a technical bridge between business units, internal IT teams and external service providers to ensure reliable and high‑performing database services.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, monitor and operate Microsoft SQL Server instances.
• Design and advise on database architectures, backup, disaster‑recovery and high‑availability solutions.
• Analyse business requirements and implement performance and stability improvements.
• Provide 1st, 2nd and, when needed, 3rd‑level support for department‑specific applications.
• Take on ITSM roles (Incident, Problem, Change Manager) and manage escalations.
• Create reports, dashboards and maintain technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with information‑security policies and legal regulations.
• Participate in on‑call rotation as required.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training or degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or related field.
• ITIL v4 Foundation certification.
• Fluent German (minimum B1) and English (minimum B1).

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Knowledge of Microsoft BI Stack: SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS (nice to have).
• Broad IT knowledge across infrastructure, systems, hardware, software and networking.
