Director of Accounting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to lead the entire accounting function for a fast‑growing logistics and e‑commerce company based in Giza. The role will oversee General Ledger, financial reporting, revenue and cash‑on‑delivery accounting, treasury, accounts payable, procurement, inventory, and tax, managing a team of roughly 40 professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Direct monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes and ensure timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with Egyptian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
• Maintain the chart of accounts, review journal entries, reconciliations and balance‑sheet substantiation, and produce consolidated financial statements with intercompany eliminations.
• Oversee revenue recognition for shipping services and manage the full COD accounting cycle, including daily collections, cash reconciliations and merchant payout liabilities.
• Act as an authorized bank signatory for customer COD payouts and supplier payments, reviewing and approving bank transfers per the delegation‑of‑authority matrix.
• Lead accounts payable and procurement functions, ensuring three‑way matching, vendor reconciliations, contract compliance and cost‑saving negotiations.
• Supervise inventory accounting, fixed‑asset register maintenance, and internal controls for physical counts.
• Ensure timely filing of VAT, withholding, payroll and corporate income taxes and coordinate external audits.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a large accounting organization, preferably in logistics, e‑commerce or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Demonstrated ability to act as an authorized bank signatory and manage treasury and payment authorizations.
• Excellent understanding of revenue recognition, COD accounting, and tax compliance.
• Leadership skills to manage a team of ~40 accounting professionals through functional managers.
