Education Officer - Minya & Assiut

About the role

The Education Officer supports the planning, implementation and monitoring of educational interventions in schools, kindergarten centres, community-based associations and civil society organisations across Minya and Assiut governorates, with a focus on the Safe School Common Approach, catch-up classes, teacher professional development, learning environment improvement and community engagement. The post is based in the Upper Egypt office (one in Assiut, one in Minya), reports to the Education Specialist and is a fixed-term appointment of one year.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in designing education projects, carry out assessments and surveys, set indicators and prepare implementation and monitoring plans.
• Develop capacity-building plans for teachers, kindergarten staff and school management teams, and oversee Early Childhood Education programmes and kindergarten activities.
• Supervise maintenance, rehabilitation and improvement works in educational facilities and conduct regular field visits to monitor activities.
• Provide technical support to the Directorates of Education and Social Solidarity, community-based associations and civil society organisations, and plan and coordinate trainings and workshops.
• Prepare technical reports, support MEAL staff with data quality and outcome tracking, and promote inclusive, gender-responsive and climate-responsive approaches.
• Ensure expenditures follow SCI and donor policies, comply with safeguarding, health and safety and ethical controls, and embed counter-fraud measures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten Education or a related field, with experience implementing education and early childhood development programmes, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3-5 years' experience in posts requiring education experience.
• Strong experience dealing with education government officials at strategic and operational levels, working through sub-grants and partners, and engaging with local communities.
