EHS Engineer – Egypt High Speed Rail

About the role

We are looking for an EHS Engineer to join the Temporary Operation Team (TOT) on the Egypt High Speed Rail Green Line. The engineer will inspect and control safety rules and operating procedures in the field and on paper, reporting directly to the Temporary Operation Manager with full stop‑work authority.

Key responsibilities

• Attend train shunting movements and verify briefings, authorisations and radio communications follow the rules.
• Inspect depots, yards and mainline for hazards before hand‑over.
• Carry out random EHS inspections and audits of work parties within TOT areas.
• Verify isolation and lock‑out/tag‑out arrangements for electrical works.
• Check PPE, housekeeping, signage, lighting and safe access routes.
• Monitor environmental aspects such as waste, spills, fuel storage, dust and noise.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment have valid inspection certificates and are maintained.
• Maintain training, competence records and flag expiries.
• Review method statements, risk assessments and give safety opinions on work permits.
• Deliver safety inductions, daily briefings and toolbox talks.
• Support incident reporting, investigations and emergency drills.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in safety, engineering or a related technical field.
• 3‑5 years of EHS experience on railway or industrial projects; testing and commissioning experience is a plus.
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification is advantageous.
• Strong field presence, attention to detail and clear written reporting.
• English proficiency at C1 level.
