Engineer I – Maintenance & Guest Services

About the role

The Engineer I provides on‑site technical support for guest rooms and hotel facilities, ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently. This entry‑level position combines hands‑on maintenance with excellent guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical‑room systems, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines; carry necessary tools and radios.
• Identify and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved procedures.
• Execute surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood‑trim repairs, and clean work areas thoroughly.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components, plumbing fixtures, HVAC filters, lighting, and guestroom electronics.
• Program televisions, perform general housekeeping inventory duties, and use lockout/tagout procedures before work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler systems.
• Enter HVAC schedules and adjust temperature settings using basic computer skills.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to lift objects up to 50 lb independently and heavier items with assistance.
• Professional appearance, clear communication, and ability to work collaboratively.
• Commitment to safety policies, reporting hazards, and maintaining confidentiality.
