Engineer - Wet Utilities

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm active in architecture, mobility services and sustainable infrastructure, is hiring a Wet Utilities Engineer in Cairo. The role covers detail design of water networks, pumping stations and water storage tanks, hydraulic modelling and project documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detail designs from concept to IFC stage for pressurized water networks, firefighting, irrigation, pumping stations, water storage tanks and other water-related projects.
• Build and calibrate water network hydraulic models using modelling software and spreadsheets, including surge and transient wave analysis.
• Design bulk infrastructure and reticulation systems, pump stations and reservoirs, and prepare specifications, data sheets, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
• Contribute to water master planning and P&I drawings of pumping stations and water tanks.
• Define pump duty conditions and system curves, analyse system performance and prepare reports for client presentation.
• Take part in fee estimating, project scoping and team work to deliver quality outputs.

Required profile

• 5-7 years of hands-on detail design experience for water infrastructure projects in road, rail and urban projects.
• Experience designing water demand management, water reticulation, reservoirs and pump stations is advantageous.
• Knowledge of international codes and standards.
• Graduate in Process Engineering, or postgraduate in Water Resource or Hydraulic Engineering (preferred).

Required skills

• Bentley WaterGEMS (experienced user preferred) and Bentley Water Hammer.
• Autodesk Civil3D and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Windows 2000 or later, MS Word, MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Good report writing, problem-solving, project management and communication skills.
