Environmental & Social Specialist

About the role

The Environmental & Social Specialist will represent Alcazar Energy in Egypt, leading stakeholder engagement, environmental permitting and social impact activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with landowners, local communities and stakeholders, communicating Alcazar’s commitment to socio‑economic development, environmental protection and human rights.
• Act as the main local interface for E&S consultants, advisors and governmental authorities during national permitting and International ESIA processes.
• Coordinate site‑based tasks of consultants, facilitate stakeholder visits, and attend meetings as the company representative.
• Monitor ESIA progress, review deliverables, and ensure compliance with Alcazar’s E&S framework, budget and schedule.
• Plan and manage stakeholder engagement, disclose ESIA information, and implement community mitigation measures.
• Lead grievance management, filter and resolve complaints in line with the project grievance mechanism.
• Oversee monitoring and reporting on E&S performance of consultants, EPC and O&M contractors, including inspections, incident investigations and remedial actions.
• Support development and implementation of project‑specific QHSE management systems and ensure their application during construction and operation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, International Development or related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in environmental protection, permitting, social responsibility or similar roles.
• Proven experience with internationally financed projects and compliance with IFC, EBRD or EIB performance standards.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, permits and consents for renewable energy infrastructure.
• Egyptian national, fluent in Arabic and English, with a valid driving licence.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
