Government Relations Senior Specialist

About the role

The Government Relations Senior Specialist will lead all interactions with governmental, municipal and regulatory bodies to secure land acquisition, licensing, permits and project approvals for large‑scale real‑estate developments. This role ensures that regulatory processes align with project timelines and supports business continuity across multiple development sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead communications and engagements with government, municipal and regulatory authorities relevant to real‑estate development.
• Develop and execute government‑relations strategies for licensing, zoning, land allocation, permitting and project approvals.
• Monitor, analyse and report on legislative, regulatory and policy changes affecting construction, urban planning and real‑estate.
• Identify, assess and escalate regulatory, political and governmental risks.
• Prepare accurate reports on approval status, regulatory timelines and government positions.
• Maintain complete, auditable records of all government communications and submissions.
• Manage contracts and coordination with state‑owned providers for water, electricity, sewage and telecommunications for massive development sites.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in real‑estate development or construction.
• Proven experience obtaining construction licenses and dealing with authorities such as the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and New Cities Institutes.
• Deep knowledge of building codes, investment laws, urban community regulations and real‑estate registration laws.
• Extensive experience securing building permits, certificates of validity, excavation permits, civil‑defense and environmental approvals.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using digital government platforms (e‑portals for licensing).
• Strong understanding of building codes and regulatory frameworks.
