HSE Advisor

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt is looking for an HSE Advisor based in Cairo. The role supports the implementation of Hitachi Rail's health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and standards, and reports performance to the HSE Manager. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, observations and statistics, and prepare daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports.
• Promote environmental awareness, good housekeeping and sustainability initiatives, and support environmental inspections.
• Verify emergency equipment and support emergency response planning and drills.
• Ensure contractors follow project-specific safety requirements, and take part in contractor inspections and evaluations.
• Conduct HSE inductions for employees, visitors and contractors, and monitor the closure of observations and corrective actions.
• Report, record and investigate accidents, incidents, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and near misses.
• Assist project teams with risk mitigation, review work permits, and take part in hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Verify proper use of PPE, identify hazards and unsafe behaviours, and conduct routine site inspections and workplace audits.
• Monitor HSE performance, report non-compliance, and ensure compliance with Egyptian law, client requirements and company regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 3+ years of HSE experience.
• Experience in railways, construction, infrastructure, transportation or industrial projects.
• Experience with contractors and multinational organisations is an advantage.

Required skills

• NEBOSH IGC (Level 3)
• NIOSH certification
• ISO 45001 internal auditor (preferred)
• First aid and fire safety training
