HVDC Field Service Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated HVDC Field Service Engineer to provide first‑line support, maintenance and repair services under Long‑Term Service Agreements. You will work closely with the existing service team, gaining competencies to ensure high availability of the HVDC system while responding to impromptu maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and manage HSE risks on site.
• Deliver exceptionally high availability for the entire HVDC system.
• Perform work on HV/LV electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems.
• Support wider HVDC operations as required by business needs.
• Maintain system value and maximise design life.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with valued customers.
• Uphold Hitachi Energy core values of safety and integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in HV power systems or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Safety‑switching, power‑plant operational, and occupational health & safety certification.
• IT and cyber‑security awareness.
• Maintenance and fault‑finding experience with UPS, battery chargers, air‑handling units, pumps, PLCs, generators, SCADA and fire‑detection systems.
• Valid driving licence.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
