Learning & Development Officer

About the role

The Learning & Development Officer will support the hotel’s talent growth by designing, delivering and evaluating training programmes for frontline colleagues. You will work closely with department heads to ensure new hires and existing staff receive the skills needed to exceed guest expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the new‑comer hotel orientation and onboarding process.
• Review and complete initial job‑training plans for new hires.
• Assist in conducting Training Needs Analyses and develop the annual training calendar.
• Design and deliver learning materials using role‑plays, group discussions, games and videos.
• Conduct IHG technical workshops and develop SOPs, manuals and visual aids.
• Measure, evaluate and report on training effectiveness and prepare monthly training reports.
• Liaise with schools and universities for IHG Academy internship placements.
• Support the annual L&D budget, optimise the IHG Merlin learning platform and ensure compliance with brand standards.
• Adhere to health, safety and emergency procedures and report incidents as required.

Required profile

• Sense of hospitality and prior experience in hotel operational departments.
• Proven administrative track record and ability to handle guest complaints with a smile.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree and 0‑2 years of experience in Learning & Development.
• Resilient, dynamic and professional attitude.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) and local language (Arabic).
