Lecturer/Instructor – Product Design – Foundation

About the role

The German University in Cairo seeks a Lecturer/Instructor to join the Department of Product Design, starting September 2026. The position focuses on teaching foundational product design skills to undergraduate and graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver courses covering ideation, form structure, and problem‑solving in 2‑D and 3‑D design.
• Teach aesthetic fundamentals, form‑making processes, and ergonomics.
• Guide students through design research, experimentation, and materialization of concepts.
• Develop and supervise a research cluster and master’s theses.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on joint design projects.

Required profile

• Professional experience in product design, including aesthetics, form making, and ergonomics.
• Previous teaching experience in academic or professional settings.
• Interest in design research and ability to lead research initiatives.
• Strong communication skills in English, the language of instruction.
• Ability to work with diverse colleagues and cultural contexts.

Required skills

• Knowledge of current and emerging design approaches.
• Understanding of design implications in social, cultural, economic, scientific, or technological contexts.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication in English.
• Project management abilities, including meeting deadlines and motivating teams.
