Lifeguard – Office of Athletics

About the role

The Lifeguard ensures the safety and well‑being of all patrons using the university’s aquatic facilities. You will maintain constant surveillance of the pool area, respond swiftly to emergencies, and support the overall operation and cleanliness of the deck.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain continuous visual monitoring of swimmers and surrounding areas to prevent accidents.
• React immediately to emergencies, applying approved rescue techniques and providing CPR or first aid until medical services arrive.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on the pool deck, such as arranging chairs, checking rescue equipment, and reporting any safety concerns.
• Prepare activity and incident reports, and assist with scheduling and administrative duties as directed.
• Cover and rotate across different shifts based on operational needs.

Required profile

• University degree.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including at least two years as a lifeguard.
• Basic proficiency in English.
• Ability to pass a timed 400‑meter swim test and a pre‑employment physical evaluation.

Required skills

• Lifesaving certification (Egyptian Diving and Lifesaving Federation).
• CPR certification.
• First aid knowledge and ability to perform emergency medical procedures.
