Mechanical Design Principal Engineer

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Principal Engineer at Schneider Electric, you will lead the design and development of mechanical systems for data‑center facilities in New Cairo, Egypt. You will ensure high availability, energy efficiency, and scalability of critical cooling infrastructure while complying with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, and advanced cooling solutions (CRAC/CRAH, liquid cooling, free cooling, containment).
• Perform load calculations, airflow analysis, and thermal modeling to optimize cooling strategies.
• Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and calculations, acting as the subject‑matter expert for mission‑critical facilities.
• Support the full project lifecycle from tender design through commissioning, including vendor submittal reviews and on‑site technical support.
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with Tier standards (Uptime Institute).

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for data‑center or mission‑critical environments.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder interaction and team coordination.
