Medical Director – Oncology & Clinical Research (Egypt)

About the role

AstraZeneca is seeking a Medical Director to lead Oncology and Clinical Research activities in Egypt. You will shape the medical strategy, drive evidence generation, and position AstraZeneca as a scientific leader in the oncology space.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the medical and clinical research strategy for the Oncology portfolio, aligning with country objectives and business needs.
• Partner cross‑functionally to shape therapy area and brand strategies, ensuring robust evidence generation before and after launch.
• Oversee the local clinical research agenda, including study feasibility, planning, recruitment, budget, vendor management and risk mitigation.
• Strengthen the medical function’s effectiveness by building high‑performing, customer‑focused teams supported by solid processes and governance.
• Promote AstraZeneca’s scientific leadership through external engagement with investigators, study sites and healthcare stakeholders.
• Lead evidence generation activities such as clinical studies, real‑world evidence projects and other scientific initiatives.
• Provide medical and scientific input to regulatory strategy and ensure timely market access.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, pharma codes, local laws and clinical trial regulations, including pharmacovigilance.
• Develop capabilities across the function, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous development.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor or equivalent degree from a medical or pharmaceutical school.
• Extensive experience as a Medical Director within a pharmaceutical company.
• Proven oncology experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to drive change and transformation in a medical function.

Required skills

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent).
• Oncology therapeutic expertise.
