Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Advisor

About the role

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Advisor provides strategic and technical leadership for MHPSS programming across development and humanitarian contexts. Reporting to the PDQI Director, the role ensures that programmes are evidence‑based, well‑monitored and aligned with Save the Children’s Country Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, periodic review and implementation of the country MHPSS strategy, thematic plans and emergency preparedness priorities.
• Provide strategic leadership on MHPSS components of the Country Strategic Plan, ensuring coherence with child protection, health, education, livelihoods and social protection.
• Support sectoral and multi‑sectoral assessments, guide programme design, proposal development and master budgeting.
• Define standards for integrated MHPSS programme design and delivery, and ensure adherence in collaboration with thematic advisors and senior operations.
• Represent Save the Children in technical and inter‑agency fora, and collaborate with MEAL to ensure accurate measurement and reporting of results.
• Promote integration of MHPSS across sectors, strengthen referral pathways, safeguarding, inclusion and meaningful participation.
• Spend at least 30% of time in the field across Greater Cairo, Aswan, Alexandria, Minia and Assiut.

Required profile

• Proven experience in MHPSS programming within development and humanitarian settings.
• Ability to provide strategic leadership and technical assurance for complex, multi‑sectoral programmes.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and referral mechanisms.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Egypt and work onsite.
