Mobile Core Performance Optimization Engineer

About the role

The Mobile Core Performance Optimization Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analysing and optimising the performance of Mobile Packet Core and IMS networks. You will work closely with Operations, Planning, Engineering and Vendor teams to identify bottlenecks, improve network efficiency and support capacity planning.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor KPIs of EPC, 5GC, IMS, PCRF/PCF, CGF and related platforms.
• Analyse performance trends, detect degradations and abnormal behaviour.
• Investigate customer experience issues and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Optimise core parameters to enhance efficiency and service quality.
• Produce daily, weekly and monthly performance reports with actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Planning and Vendors to implement optimisation actions.
• Perform capacity analysis and recommend hardware/software upgrades before congestion.
• Monitor CPU, memory, storage, throughput, session capacity and signalling utilisation.
• Analyse signalling protocols (Diameter, GTP, SIP, HTTP/2, SCTP) performance.
• Validate impact of software upgrades, new features and network changes.
• Develop dashboards and automation scripts for KPI reporting.
• Ensure compliance with SLAs and operational KPIs.
• Participate in major incident investigations and document preventive actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
• 5‑7 years of experience in Mobile Core performance, operations or optimisation.
• Strong understanding of LTE EPC, 5G Core and IMS architectures.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
