Packaging Development Engineer

About the role

Mondelēz International is hiring a Packaging Development Engineer in Egypt to deliver RDQ activities for Packaging Design and Packaging Deployment on innovation, growth and productivity projects across multiple geographies, with a focus on the consumer experience. The engineer works in a cross-functional team under the guidance of a manager and is accountable for overall packaging development for the JANZ Business Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Organize and execute packaging development projects according to RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, reporting status and risks
• Plan and run sampling, supplier management, pilot plant and factory trials following GMP and HACCP requirements
• Carry out process development such as packaging design and specifications, scale-up and commissioning
• Create technical reports, packaging specifications and intellectual property
• Act as a business partner with teams such as Marketing, supporting NPD, promotions, gifting, productivity, quality improvement and technical support
• Manage and deliver new packaging projects for the Japan Australia New Zealand BU or the AMEA market, and work with global teams on new technologies locally
• Work with suppliers, testing and prototyping labs and universities, and with internal partners such as Consumer Insight, Procurement, Quality and the Global RD team

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
• At least 5-7 years of experience in packaging development
• Experience in the food and FMCG industries is preferred
• Good command of English
• Travel as needed, full-time, no relocation support

Required skills

• Detailed understanding of the packaging development process and packaging technologies
• Project management and ability to handle several assignments at once
• Preferred: Cape Pack, SAP PLM, SAP MDG and digital prototyping tools
