Piping Design & Plant Layout Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Piping Design & Plant Layout Engineer to lead work packages for piping design and plant layout. The role involves creating 3D models, ensuring code compliance, and coordinating with stress and structural engineers while working with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Design 3D area models (modules/units) with routing strategy, accessibility and constructability in mind.
• Develop and modify plant layouts to maximise efficiency and maintainability.
• Prepare and approve piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, specialty items lists and material take‑offs with strict accuracy control.
• Coordinate pipe stress inputs, define support selections and manage loads and interfaces with structural teams.
• Execute clash prevention through zoning, segregation and corridor planning, track and resolve clashes.
• Validate line class/spec compliance, manage spec breaks and tie‑ins, and integrate vendor drawings into the 3D model.
• Lead model review sessions, drive resolution logs to closure and mentor junior designers.
• Contribute to layout philosophies covering maintenance, lifting, insulation, thermal growth and fire‑proofing.
• Support site queries with constructability clarifications and perform change impact analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2‑5 years of experience in piping design, preferably with consulting firms.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31 codes, piping materials and layout standards.

Required skills

• E3D/PDMS, Smart 3D or Plant 3D.
• AutoCAD.
• Navisworks Manage and Navisworks Simulate.
• MTO/extraction tools.
• Pipe stress coordination and support selection.
