Planning Engineer – SMT Program Development & Optimization

About the role

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing SMT placement programs and ensuring efficient production processes within our electronics manufacturing facility.

Key responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize SMT placement programs for Pick‑and‑Place, Screen Printers, SPI, and AOI machines.
• Configure machine settings to improve placement accuracy, throughput and overall efficiency.
• Develop and maintain component libraries and troubleshoot programming or equipment issues.
• Support equipment upgrades, calibration and maintenance coordination.
• Implement and monitor production plans, analyze defects, and drive continuous improvement.
• Track KPIs such as throughput, yield and downtime, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, quality and maintenance teams and report performance to management.
• Assist in training production staff and promote safety compliance.
• Manage projects related to process improvements, new technologies and new product introductions, preparing work instructions and allocating resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 1‑3 years of experience in a similar SMT planning or production engineering role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent command of Arabic and English.
