Principal Mechanical Engineer – Data Center Cooling

About the role

Schneider Electric is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of mechanical systems for data centre facilities in New Cairo. The role focuses on high‑availability cooling infrastructure, energy efficiency and compliance with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of data‑centre projects, including HVAC, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH and liquid‑cooling systems.
• Develop and optimise cooling strategies such as free cooling, containment and thermal modelling.
• Perform load calculations, airflow analysis and ensure designs meet Tier uptime requirements.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications and vendor submittals.
• Support the full project lifecycle from tender design through construction, testing and commissioning.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans while providing on‑site technical support.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for mission‑critical facilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects from concept to delivery.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
