Project Manager – Rail Infrastructure

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt is looking for a Project Manager in Cairo who assists the Project Director. The role manages and coordinates internal teams such as Control Account Managers and Work Package Managers, as well as external teams including customers, suppliers, subcontractors and partners, covering sales, finance and contract management. The manager directs project activities so that the project is completed successfully in terms of technical, industrial, financial and customer satisfaction aspects.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure successful project execution and contribute to preparing and organizing project reviews.
• Establish and update the project requirements baseline with the Bid Manager, and set up the execution baseline (structure, work packages, contracts, management plans, costs, budgets, resourced schedule).
• Set up key decision data such as contingencies, strategy and business case, and identify stakeholders and allocate requirements.
• Manage the financial aspects of the acquisition: make-or-buy strategy, supplier consultation and negotiation, contract signing, execution and closure.
• Lead the project launch review with all stakeholders and the project team, using documents such as the WBS, OBS, schedule and budget allocations.
• Execute, monitor and control the project until completion, managing work packages, risks and opportunities, and ensuring stakeholder commitments are met.
• Handle NAT, internal and external stakeholders (Systra, Colas, Orascom) on technical, price and time matters, representing Hitachi Rail's interests.
• Control requirements, costs and schedule throughout the project life cycle, manage quality and customer satisfaction, and handle legal and contractual requirements including disputes.
• Hold regular progress review meetings and report to senior management.

Required profile

• 7 to 10 years of experience.
• Railway construction background and/or railway signalling.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Strong organization and leadership skills, and the ability to manage resources in an international environment.
• Business-oriented, with extensive client and stakeholder management experience.

Required skills

• Electrical, telecom or signalling engineering preferred; civil engineering also mentioned.
• Ability to work in a complex, multidisciplinary organization.
