Project Planning Manager Engineer

About the role

The Project Planning Manager Engineer will join COLAS Rail Egypt’s project management team, providing expert planning for multi‑disciplinary rail construction projects. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing the project schedule for the Power Supply & Depot equipment partner, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones and stakeholder expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the full project schedule covering design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning phases, starting from the Initial Work Program (IWP).
• Set up activity sequences using Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM) and rolling‑wave planning, highlighting risks and proposing mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with the consortium‑level Project Control team, participate in weekly schedule meetings and ensure schedule alignment.
• Prepare schedule documentation such as bar charts, Tilos extracts and narrative assumptions; produce progress and performance reports.
• Conduct 30‑day and 90‑day progress reviews, update the schedule monthly, and evaluate the critical path.
• Lead the planning team, review all schedules before submission, and manage succession and development plans.
• Interface with the BIM 4D model to integrate time‑based visualisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in scheduling large, multi‑disciplinary construction projects.
• Engineering background or equivalent with proven experience on major rail or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of PMBOK® practices (highly desirable).
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Egyptian Arabic; French is a plus.
• Proven ability to negotiate, coordinate with stakeholders and adapt communication to diverse audiences.
