Project Structural Engineer

About the role

e.construct is a fast-growing engineering firm with 7 offices worldwide, specialising in structural engineering such as bridges, high-rise design, precast concrete and post-tensioning. It is also incubating VAES.ai, a tech startup that uses optimisation algorithms and machine learning to reduce the amount of raw material used in buildings and bridges. The company is looking for a Project Structural Engineer with 7-9 years of structural design experience, including at least one year at e.construct, who can handle structural analysis and design independently, coordinate deliverables across disciplines and mentor junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare structural designs in line with the latest international codes and company standards.
• Perform structural calculations and analysis using FEM software, spreadsheets and manual methods.
• Develop cost estimates, material take-offs and project schedules.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure timely delivery.
• Produce structural drawings, sketches and technical reports, and lead drafting staff.
• Mentor junior engineers and BIM team members and provide technical support.
• Oversee project deliverables, meet deadlines and comply with QA/QC procedures.
• Make independent technical decisions, attend client and coordination meetings and represent the company.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 7-9 years of structural engineering experience in a consultancy environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage several tasks or project types at once.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, and commercial awareness.
• Willingness to attend client meetings and mentor junior staff.

Required skills

• Structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 and FEM tools.
• Familiarity with major design codes such as ACI, Eurocode and British Standards.
• Experience preparing cost estimates, material take-offs and schedules, and producing detailed drawings and reports.
