About the role
The Quality Section Head will lead quality assurance activities within an Autonomous Production Unit (APU) to ensure product and process conformity with customer, regulatory, and Methode requirements. The role manages a team of Quality Inspectors, drives rapid containment, structured problem solving, and collaborates with operations and support functions to improve quality performance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, assign, and monitor daily activities of Quality Inspectors within the APU, ensuring adequate coverage and disciplined execution of inspections.
- Implement and enforce Control Plans, PFMEA, inspection standards, work instructions, reaction plans, and customer‑specific requirements.
- Monitor APU quality performance (scrap, rework, first‑pass yield, internal defects, customer complaints, cost of poor quality) and define improvement actions.
- Coordinate immediate containment and escalation for internal or customer quality incidents, including segregation, traceability, controlled shipping, quality alerts, and verification of corrective actions.
- Lead structured problem‑solving using 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Pareto analysis and other quality tools to eliminate root causes.
- Work cross‑functionally with Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, Supplier Quality and Customer Quality to resolve concerns promptly.
- Support new product introductions, process changes, engineering changes, trials, validations and PPAP activities by confirming quality readiness.
- Conduct layered process, product, internal system and workplace quality audits, ensuring timely closure of findings.
- Verify non‑conforming material is identified, contained, recorded, dispositioned and prevented from unintended use.
- Ensure measuring and inspection equipment is suitable, available, calibrated and any risk to product conformity is escalated.
- Prepare and communicate daily, weekly and monthly quality reports highlighting risks, trends and recurring issues.
Required profile
- Minimum of 84 months (7 years) of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
